The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is Kenya’s first fully online public university, which was officially opened in August 2023. Conducting most of its activities online, OUK offers flexible and accessible learning through open and distance learning methods using innovative ICT solutions to avail high-quality education to all regardless of geographical placement or circumstance. The university runs a number of programs under its various schools, which are Business and Economics, Science and Technology, Education, and Agriculture. OUK provides a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, a sign of its commitment to addressing the present needs of education. By February 2025, OUK has admitted over 2,100 students, a sign of its growing role in expanding access to higher education in Kenya.

For appointment to this post, one MUST have:
- An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from accredited University.
OR A Master’s degree in the relevant field from accredited University (in special cases) with at least three (3) years teaching experience at university level and registered in good standing for PhD in the relevant field - A minimum of 24 publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
- Registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Experience in developing course content and facilitating online learning will be an added advantage.
- All candidates should be computer literate with ability to handle digital content for all posts.
