Role Overview
The Program Officer – Post-Harvest Management and Delivery (REGAIN) will:
- Support farmers with post-harvest management training and climate-resilient loss reduction solutions.
- Strengthen market linkages to ensure smallholder farmers can sell their produce through structured markets.
- Collaborate with AGRA’s technical teams and regional partners to develop training programs and scale up post-harvest management technologies.
- Offer technical assistance to government agencies, private sector actors, and NGOs involved in post-harvest management and agricultural value chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide extension services across the seven RE-GAIN program countries.
- Oversee and troubleshoot scaling of post-harvest technologies.
- Develop market-driven agro-processing action plans for improved capacity and quality standards.
- Identify and address post-harvest challenges through market collaborations, institutional promotion, and government engagement.
- Establish partnerships with research institutions and private/non-profit actors to enhance food loss reduction.
- Engage policy makers to support agro-processing, job creation, and scaling of post-harvest innovations.
- Create training programs for smallholder farmers on post-harvest management best practices.
- Promote youth participation in agri-business and post-harvest value chains.
- Maintain a monitoring and evaluation system to track program impact.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Extension, Education, or Communication.
- Expertise in agriculture finance, policy analysis, and political economy in Africa.
- Experience working with governments, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and financial ecosystem stakeholders.
- Knowledge of food crop value chains, market access, and small-scale Agri-SME engagement.
- Ability to develop and implement sustainable finance solutions for post-harvest management.
- Familiarity with youth and women inclusion strategies in agriculture and agri-finance.
- Strong understanding of government and private sector regulations in post-harvest management.
- Experience in designing and executing capacity-building programs for agricultural stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; French proficiency is an added advantage.
